Baccarat is a very old-school casino game that has become very popular for those who enjoy classic card styles. It is a game that means you compare two hands; your hand, and the hand of the “banker”. You basically need to outscore the banker, or at least tie them, to have a chance of wining something. The most common form of baccarat is known as “punto banco” and is most commonly played across North America.
The game has been increasingly popular over the last decade or so, with the rapid nature of a game making it very easy for people to play along with and enjoy. Each card that are you are given has a set value that is put in place, with each of the number cards from 2 to 9 carrying their value. Jacks, Queens, and Kings, though, have no point value. Aces are worth a single point.
So, the value of your hand comes down to the cards that you are holding. This can seem confusing, but the highest points value that you can have in a game of baccarat is 9. If you hit a maximum of 9 then you have the chance of walking away with a win.
Several forms of baccarat, such as puanco, will make a player take an extra, third card if they have an initial total of 0 to 5. If you have a total of 6 or 7, though, you are allowed to stand. If you stand, though, then the baker has to draw a third card with hands 0-5, or stand themselves at 6 or 7.
You then see who has the higher value in terms of the card totals, and if you have the same value then this is noted as a tie.
